Dealer and player accused of cheating in craps
Land-based casinos are regularly victims of cheating attempts. Some of them are even set up by employees.
We have just had further evidence of this at the Mohegan Pennsylvania Casino Resort in Wilkes-Barre. A dealer and his gambling partner were charged a few days ago for allegedly implementing a cheating technique on an electronic craps table.
Schemes uncovered via video surveillance tapes
The dealer we are interested in through today’s news is named Jason Richard Kutney. He is 52 years old and lives in Bear Creek Township, Pennsylvania.
He is suspected by state police of repeatedly pressing a button to make the dice roll faster than expected on an electronic craps table.
As a result, players had approximately 20 seconds to place their bets knowing the outcome of the dice.
Security guards at the Mohegan Pennsylvania Casino Resort in Wilkes-Barre began monitoring Jason Richard Kutney after discovering a sudden high win rate at the electronic craps table he was running.
Through surveillance tapes, they realized that our dealer had pressed the infamous button at least 9 times.
After his arrest, Jason Richard Kutney was charged in the cheating case. He faces jail time and a substantial fine if he is ultimately convicted of the various charges.
His preliminary hearing is already scheduled for Tuesday, January 17 in Luzerne County Central Court.
Over $21,500 in winnings in two gaming sessions
Pennsylvania police believe 66-year-old Louis Grasso of Pine Bush, New York, is in cahoots with the dealer. Security guards at the Mohegan Pennsylvania Casino Resort in Wilkes-Barre saw him place maximum bets in the compromising games, which led to his first win of $17,521 at the notorious electronic craps table.
A few days later, he even returned to the complex to play again, which then netted him $4,128.
During his interrogation, Jason Richard Kutney admitted that he had indeed set up the cheating to help Louis Grasso through a difficult period in his life.

Opened in November 2006, the Mohegan Pennsylvania Casino Resort is located in Wilkes-Barre in the north of the state. It is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and has 238 rooms or suites and a gaming area of over 7,600 square meters.
The latter includes a room dedicated to sports betting, about 2,300 slot machines and traditional tables for blackjack, roulette and various poker variants, among others.
