The board game, adapted for video games, has just disappeared from PC and mobile stores, and will soon be withdrawn on Xbox and Switch. The publisher wants to remove all traces of the title.

Based on the board game of the same name, PC and Xbox title Pandemic: The Board Game has just been removed from online game stores for an undisclosed reason. Indeed, on Steam, we can read that Asmodee, the game’s publisher, has requested the deletion of the title.

Note: Per the publisher’s request, Pandemic The Board Game is no longer for sale on Steam.

The game will also be removed from the Xbox store on January 31 and from the Switch eShop at the end of July. The title has already been removed from mobile shops also.

As a reminder, in this game released in 2018, humanity is on the verge of extinction due to a pandemic. As a member of an elite medical prevention team, you are the last hope to prevent four deadly diseases from ravaging the world.

Asmodee nevertheless takes the trouble to respond to players by email to explain (or not) his decision, as revealed gaming pc.

Unfortunately, we are removing the Pandemic app from stores. We worked hard for 4 years on Pandemic and pulling it from stores was not an easy choice. This decision was made with a heavy heart for a multitude of reasons that we cannot disclose.

For now, only the PC, App Store and Google Play versions have been removed. The Microsoft version will follow on January 31, 2022, then the Nintendo Switch by the end of July 2022.

As for the game, as long as it was purchased and downloaded before it was removed from the store, you will continue to have access to the game. If you uninstall the game, you will need to access your library to install the game again.

The game has also disappeared from the official catalog of its website, suggesting that the publisher (new acquisition of Embracer) may no longer want to be associated with this title, probably because of the current health situation.

As a reminder, the old game Plague Inc. had already experienced a haro at the very beginning of the pandemic, until it was banned by the Chinese authorities. It seems that the gaming world no longer wants to laugh with the disease…
