During an interview for Inverse, director Kenji Anabuki admitted to being rather interested in making a sequel more adult and centered on superpowers.
A small success of 2021, Scarlet Nexus has received very good critical reception. In our columns, the software has for example collected a nice 15/20 and even reached a score of 80 on Metacritic.
The idea of a sequel is therefore not crazy and it is moreover on the future of the license that colleagues from Inverse questioned the director Kenji Anabuki.
Among the topics discussed, the interested party was asked to give his opinion on a potential sequel to Scarlet Nexus and what it could look like.
If, for the moment, Scarlet Nexus 2 is not yet on track, or even guaranteed to see the light of day, Kenji Anabuki already has an idea of what he would like to do with the license.
If there’s a sequel, I’d like to use the “superpowers” theme in areas other than fighting. […]The universe and story settings could potentially be adapted to suit an even more mature audience, exploring for example themes such as the dangers of having or using superpowers.
It must be said that the universe of Scarlet Nexus is rather rich and already has particularly mature themes. It would therefore be neither surprising nor incoherent for a sequel to sink deeper into it.
