One of the most significant opuses in the history of video games is not yet a member of the World Video Game Hall of Fame, the list of the greatest titles of all time.

No, you’re not dreaming, Ocarina of Time is currently not inscribed in the Strong Museum’s World Video Game Hall of Fame. in New York. But that could change this year, as the list of 12 finalists to earn a new spot on the Greatest Games of All Time chart has been announced.

There is certainly worship there, but at very different levels, and with very variable merit:

  • Assassin’s Creed
  • candy Crush
  • Dance Dance Revolution
  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
  • Minesweeper
  • Ms. Pac-Man
  • NBA Jam
  • PaRappa the Rapper
  • resident Evil
  • Snape
  • Sid Meier’s Civilization
  • Words with Friends

If there is indeed one that stands out very widely, it is this Zelda opus released in 1998 on Nintendo 64. Since 2015, games have been added every year, and the very first list of 6 titles announced at the time was very short to be complete (Tetris, Super Mario Bros, Pac-Man, World of Warcraft, DooM and Pong). Last year, the Strong added, among other things, Where is Carmen Sandiego?

Visitors can vote for the most deserving game and three first will have a direct place with three other titles elected by the jury in a final survey by the national selection committee to elect the “class of 2022”.
