Shortly after the launch in Asia, gamers pointed to the disastrous porting of PS1 games to PAL versions. Good news, Sony will fix the problem.
Remember, during the launch of the new PlayStation Plus in Asia, subscribers to the premium service had the unpleasant surprise of seeing their games slow down or suffer from huge bugs making them difficult to play. Retro games are indeed offered in PAL version in all countries except the latter have clearly worse performance than their counterparts in NTSC, until now reserved for the Asian market. Fortunately, Sony will correct the situation once and for all and in all regions of the globe.
PS1 games in NTSC for everyone
The company has indeed announced that it will soon deploy NTSC options on most games in the classic catalog. This will, in effect, run games at 60Hz instead of the mandatory 50Hz in the PAL versionwhich should guarantee an optimal experience. Sony had already tried to patch the games to rectify the bugs, without success, so we hope that this new method will be the right one.
We plan to deploy NTSC options for a majority of Classic games offered in
PlayStation Plus Premium and Deluxe offers in Asia, Europe, India, South Africa, Australia,
New Zealand and the Middle East. More info on PS Plus: https://t.co/kBBKpbcaMO— PlayStation France (@PlayStationFR) June 23, 2022
