IGT extends its use of the Wheel of Fortune trademark
In a recent press release issued on Monday June 5, slot machine supplier International Game Technology, better known by its acronym IGT, announced that it had just signed a new 10-year agreement with Sony Pictures Television.
This contract enables the company to continue to use the Wheel of Fortune brand between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2034.
Unfortunately, the financial terms of this famous partnership have not been officially disclosed.
A license for land-based casino games, lotteries and online gaming
Today, the IGT Group is the world’s leading supplier of slot machines for land-based casinos.
Among other things, it is extremely popular in the USA, where its Wheel of Fortune range of slot machines is a huge success. Present in a very large number of gaming establishments, it is indisputably a must-have.
This new agreement signed with Sony Pictures Television will enable the IGT group to continue using the Wheel of Fortune brand until the end of 2034 for its land-based casino games, lotteries and online games.
It may be recalled in passing that the IGT group teamed up with operator BetMGM to launch Wheel of Fortune Casino on the web last March.
This themed online casino is reserved exclusively for the US state of New Jersey.
Impressive success for Wheel of Fortune slot machines for over 25 years
Wheel of Fortune is the American title of the cult TV show known in France as La Roue de la fortune. Created in 1975 by Merv Griffin, it is one of the longest-running TV programs in the U.S., with some 60 international adaptations.
Over 25 years ago, the IGT group obtained the rights to launch slot machines inspired by this brand. In total, it has already released over 300 different versions in its Wheel of Fortune range.
Since 1996, they have all brought in more than $3.5 billion in jackpots and awarded jackpots of over $1 million to more than 1,100 players.
Important news for IGT
It has to be said that obtaining the licensing rights for Wheel of Fortune for another decade is excellent news for the IGT group. Indeed, when it comes to choosing a slot machine, many players tend to prefer strong brands, and this is precisely one of the most famous in the field.
Add to this the fact that its slot machine division remains its most lucrative, and it’s easy to see why its Wheel of Fortune range is so important.
