Sony is expanding its MCU house around Spider-Man and is preparing to bring Dakota Johnson into it via a spin-off.

Sony continues to expand its SpiderVerse with another Madame Web-centric spinoff. And if we already know that the film will be directed by SJ Clarkson and written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (already screenwriters of Morbius), we do not know so far who will be in the shoes of the heroine Madame Web.

However, Deadline provides some answers, since the site claims that Dakota Johnson (50 Shades of Grey) would be in discussion with the studio in charge of the film to take on the features of Madame Web.

Who is Madame Web?

In the comics, Madame Web is a mutant and Spider-Man’s ally., to work equivalent to that of the Oracle at Batman. In addition, the woman is endowed with psychic powers, such as telepathy or the ability to see part of the future.

She is also a heroine who has had many faces. Originally, it is an elderly and paralyzed woman who is literally kept alive by a machine whose wiring forms a spider’s web (Madame Web, see me). But there is also a younger, valid and even immortal version with the same abilities.

ifit is not yet known which version of Miss Web the film will deal with, it’s easy to imagine which one will be chosen if Dakota Johnson lands the role.

In all cases, Sony intends to continue to strengthen on its SpiderVerse since in addition to Madame Web planned for 2025 and a possible sequel to Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Morbius is preparing its release despite a postponement that would not be due only to Covid 19 – we let you read this article if the subject interests you, but beware of spoilers.
