Electronic roulette rigging in 2 Puerto Rican casinos
In order to amass maximum winnings at the casino, some unscrupulous people do not hesitate to use some dishonest techniques.
This can sometimes involve outright cheating. In other cases, it is the manipulation of a gaming device that is preferred. This is the option chosen by a player in Puerto Rico.
Just a few days ago, he was accused of rigging electronic roulette in at least 2 land-based casinos.
Nevertheless, in order to prosecute him, the authorities must first track him down and get their hands on him.
Over $62,000 in dishonest winnings at electronic roulette
The accused that interests us in today’s news is Edmanuel Victoria. This resident of the American state of Florida, originally from Cuba, visited the Tropical Casino in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, twice last December.
By manipulating an electronic roulette machine, he allegedly managed to take advantage of free credits, which allowed him to win more than $43,000 in total. On Wednesday, May 10, he was charged in this case. A judge has just imposed a $400,000 bail on him.
Unfortunately for him, our man is also facing another similar charge. This time, the manipulation of an electronic roulette wheel took place in the Stellaris Casino of the San Juan Marriott Resort located in Condado: a seaside neighborhood of San Juan. In this gambling establishment, he would have dishonestly won more than $19,000.
Following a preliminary hearing that took place last Friday, April 12, the Court of First Instance of San Juan, which is in charge of this case, confirmed the charges against Edmanuel Victoria and issued a warrant for his arrest.
The charges against him in Bayamón and Condado are both punishable by between three and eight years.
So, depending on how the authorities want to proceed, our accused could spend a lot of time in prison.
A possible member of a major criminal organization
Before he ends up behind bars, Edmanuel Victoria must still be arrested. For now, he is still at large. Thanks to the video surveillance tapes, his actions were spotted in the Tropical Casino in Bayamón.
Nevertheless, he managed to disappear before he could be arrested. However, the authorities managed to get hold of him because of his manipulation at the Stellaris Casino in Condado. However, he was released on bail. Since then, he has remained unaccounted for.
At present, Puerto Rico law enforcement officials believe that he may not have acted alone in these cases. They suspect that he is working for a large crime syndicate. He may also be involved in similar manipulations at other gaming establishments in the territory.
If Edmanuel Victoria is indeed part of a large criminal organization, the authorities may have a hard time arresting him, if they ever manage to find him.
