The studio behind The Dark Pictures and Until Dawn has been fully acquired by the Danish group Nordisk Games.

While Supermassive is successful with its brand new The Quarry, and soon for the next one The Dark Pictures, the studio announces its acquisition by Nordisk Games for an undisclosed amount. The group had already recovered more than 30% of the company’s shares last year. They have now acquired the remaining assets.

For the CEO and founder of Supermassive, Pete Samuelsthis buyout is the logical next step:

It’s been just over a year since Nordisk Games made its first investment in Supermassive Games and our vision for the future. During this time we have found that we share many important values with Mikkel [Weider, PDG de Nordisk, ndlr] and his team, and we believe that these values are equally important to our current business partners whom we will continue to support.

Nordisk will allow Supermassive to unlock more resources for future productions. No new titles have been announced yet. The Danish group Nordisk Games, a subsidiary of the production company Nordisk Film, already has several development studios in the world including Avalanche Studios (Just Cause series).
