Sony celebrates 15 years of PlayStation

Sony celebrates 15 years of PlayStationToday marks a very special milestone in Sony’s history. The PlayStation is fifteen years old today.

Way before the Nintendo Wii revolutionized the market with motion controlled gaming Sony’s first foray into the games industry gave gaming one heck of a shake up when it launched in 1994.

With the Nintendo 64 to do battle with a couple of years later the original PlayStation had more than a fight on its hands but with a slew of awesome games it was clear then that Sony was here to stay with franchises such as Tekken, Ridge Racer, Crash Bandicoot, Wipeout Tomb Raider and more.

Since then Sony has barely looked back, with the PS2 exceeding expectations further leading up to the PS3, which Sony is hoping will last the ten-year life cycle it so often touts.

To celebrate Sony has launched a website dedicated to PlayStation’s 15th anniversary. It might be in Japanese but it’s pretty graphics make it well worth clicking at randomly.
