PS3 3.0 update to introduce “completely new system” this Christmas?
PS3 Firmware 3.0 will introduce a “completely new system for the console giving it “a huge overhaul” and loads of new features, according to VG247.
How huge will the overhaul be? VG247’s source suggests it can be compared to the New Xbox Experience (NXE) update earlier lapped up by Xbox 360 gamers.
So what will it include?
The report goes on to say that a reputation system will be included where “users will be able to evaluate each other will be provided for… game applications.”
“There will be a new API available to so the user can… allow users and also obtain users’ reputation.”
A “Grief” reporting system will also be added letting PS3 users report offensive gamers to the Sony gaming police. It will work in a similar way to LittleBigPlanet’s own grief reportage tool with a text input.
The update will also let patches, like those to fix games run in the background. There’s been a lot of those, eh Sony. There will also be “simultaneous HDMI and digital optical outputting” for cine and audiophiles to be pleased with.
VG247 says it has been told more info but aren’t telling us or anyone else anymore.
“Rest assured, 3.0 will be significant,” the site says.
