Trophies could still appear on PSP

Submitted by Joe Lee on August 7, 2009 – 5:13 pmOne Comment

Trophies could still appear on PSPBack in June Sony’s Eric Lempel said “You’re not going to see trophies on the PSP.” Now it appears that Sony’s changed its tune; admitting that trophies are “under discussion.”

Speaking to PlayStation: The Official Magazine SCEA Senior Vice President at Product Development man, Shuhei Yoshida said that the idea of trophies hitting the PSP isn’t entirely dead.

“It’s under discussion,” Yoshida said, “But there are some technical challenges.”

Not the most encouraging answer from the Sony boss but it does appear that Sony’s at least trying to find a way to bring the achievement trinkets over to the handheld following earlier comments.

In June Sony’s Eric Lempel, Director of PlayStation Network Operations said “You’re not going to see Trophies on the PSP,” citing the need to fend off hackers.

If hackers “artificially inflate their rankings and amounts of Trophies” on such a PlayStation-wide trophy system that includes the PS3  it “kills the whole system,” Lempel earlier said.
