Now an Electronic Arts studio, Codemasters would have abandoned the DiRT brand to take care of a juicy deal with the world rally championship.

Remember, at the end of 2021, Codemasters (new EA studio, acquired to expand its sports range) announced the discontinuation of DiRT 5 support to focus on a very ambitious AAA game.

Yes DiRT 6, F1 2022 or even Need for Speed seemed to be the designated suitors for this big project, it seems to be a new edition WRC (World Rally Championship) incoming. After recently revealing a slew of games in Ubisoft’s boxes, leaker Tom Henderson took on Codemasters and announced this new game for 2023.

Logical when you know that the Codemasters deal with the world rally championship was signed in 2020, but the license acquired for five years will begin next year. Another clue about this license change and the arrival of games dedicated to the official competition: last month: DiRT’s twitter account became EA Sports Rally. Which, by the way, adds some grist to the mill of a switch from FIFA to EA Sports FC.

However, according to Henderson, the development would have already taken the lead in the wing, the journalist explaining that major management issues are identified in the quality assurance department, with nearly half of the workforce having left the company since the takeover. It’s hard to say if this will impact the schedule.

The last WRC 10 FIA World Rally Championship is released in 2021run by the French from Kylotonn and Nacon.
