Fourth opus of the XXL franchise for the two Gauls. Microids announces a new title, which slightly changes its name to Asterix & Obelix “XXXL” – The Hibernian Ram.
Asterix and Obelix goes to XXXL format. Announced by Microids, this new title subtitled “Le Bélier d’Hibernie” will be a sequel to the (mediocre) XXL trilogy by Étranges Libellules and then OSome Studio, followed at the end of 2021 by a better iteration of Asterix and Obelix: Slap Them All! at Mr Nutz.
In the fall of 2022, Asterix and Obelix XXXL – The Hibernian Ram will once again put you in the shoes of the two Gauls for a 3D adventureOnce again entrusted to OSome Studio, who recently made another adaptation for Microids with The Smurfs – Mission Malfeuille (our test here). For the first time in the series, the game will be playable in solo and in local co-op up to 4 players.
It is 50 BC and all of Gaul is occupied by the Romans… All of it? No! A small village of die-hard Gauls is still resisting the invaders… Meanwhile in Hibernia (the ancient name of Ireland), Keratin, daughter of the chief Irishcoffix, has called the famous Asterix and Obelix to the rescue to thwart the Roman invasion and bring back her father’s beloved ram at all costs…
Fights against flying Romans, magic potion concocted by Getafix and big slaps in the face are on the menu, but the gameplay is more oriented towards a new mechanic that allows you to throw objects at the enemies: barrels, tree trunks (Dogmatix is going to grumble)… Romans…. With a gameplay in top view and a mixture between action and puzzles on six chapters in all Hibernia. All dubbed in French, and we hope, with a cast as qualitative as the XXL games.
