Activision pulls Kurt Cobain Guitar Hero 5 footage off YouTube
It looks like attorney power has prevailed after it’s been discovered that Activision has participated in the pulling of Guitar Hero 5 Kurt Cobain videos from YouTube.
Courtney Love, Cobain’s widow wasn’t too chuffed to discover that the Nirvana star was being used to sing songs from other artists.
She eventually called on her attorney in an attempt to put a stop to it before launching a foul-mouthed Twitter tirade in the direction of Activision.
And it looks as if Activision has listened. The publisher recently pulled a video of Kurt’s GH5 likeness singing Bon Jovi songs but left other GH5 YouTube vids untouched.
One such user who got in touch with Kotaku broke the news:
“…my last account was permanently disabled due to (I think) Activision. Right before my account was shut down, the Kurt Cobain vid was removed due to copyright claim by Activision Games Inc…”
There’s still some videos floating about. But if true then it looks like the next Guitar Hero 5 update will remove Kurt’s impersonation skills.
